Soil Design Protocols for Landscape Architects and Contractors
$77.48
Real-world guidance to ensuring the longevity of soil used in landscape projects Natural soils are very fragile, and changing the use or design of a landscape increases the number of environmental variables that contend with the planting soil. Not all projects require a soil consultant, but the success and longevity of a landscape project requires that landscape architects and contractors be capable of developing and installing suitable planting soils. Now, in one convenient reference, Soil Design Protocols for Landscape Architects and Contractors provides step-by-step, technical skill sets for implementing productive planting soils for a variety of projects. Drawing on a wealth of experience in soils, forestry, micrometeorology, geomorphology, and agronomy, this book's authorial team presents: * A succinct introduction to the physical and chemical properties that pertain to all planting soils * Informative descriptions of how a project evolves from site investigation to construction administration * Quick, easy-to-read procedures organized in the standard landscape architect stages of a project * Step-by-step templates to use from a project's inception to completion * The latest material on such specialized design elements as rooftops, intensely designed elements, and treatment wetlands, as well as pervious poured concrete, pervious pavers, and the supporting soil

I have two Malibu low voltage transformers landscape. Everyone has a countdown timer, and run from midnight about 18 hours -. I would like to add a photocell each, so that the lights at dusk (Whatever it is time to change during the year) and still turn midnight. I thought I could put the counters from 15 hours to midnight, then added a photocell prevents lights from turning at sunset, then the counters would be shutting the lights at midnight. Seems impossible? Any ideas on where to find add photocells like that? Many Thanks.
You do not want to do things as you described. You must remove the tabs on the wheel that wants to schedule processor be to turn on and off. Then Turn on the processor, it is constantly on. Then go out and buy an additional unit of this kind. Http: / / www.amazon.com/Stanley-31217-Digital-Outdoor-Photocell/dp/B0020ML74O There are many brands available, but they all do the same thing. They go on at dusk and can tell you how many hours remain. The only problem you might have water to enter the connection between the transformer plug and socket Block photocell. Try to place the device in an area where it is not wet by rain.

My garden low voltage ligting recently stopped working.?
I returned from vacation, and two of my 2 sets of lights (one along the house, one along the garage) are not lighting. Each light the cable is out. The timer is still ongoing, but nothing lights up when I throw the switch on the transformer. Should I try cutting the son, contacts look a bit dirty / rust or do I need a new transformer boxes?
Get a voltmeter. Measure the voltage at the tap. Is there 12V? If the check is from the transformer to each fixture connection. If they are all out, or you have a break in your line, what happens with gardeners and lawn service companies around, or your processor has developed a problem. Unplug the timer and the switch turned on, it may too.

Backyard landscape lighting 12v: 12 (10W), the path and 7 (15W) stains. Front: 6 and 2 way up. Each system is different on a transformer 600W. Front works great! Back, not so much. First half on the back for good, the second half very low. Length of the back line is about 170 m from the transformer to light last path. I was wondering if there is no way to increase the efficiency of lighting distal (to namely: to be more distal to 20W power for help, or hurt?). I can not mount transformers will help justify the cost. HELP!
Since you are less than 600 W, up processors will not help much, if at all. Assuming this is not due to a bad (ie resistive) connection, thicker wire is your only choice. One trick you might try is to run another pair of the transformer son at the end of the race. Sure and obtain the phase (or I should say that AC "polarity") correct, or turn off the lights when you connect, you could and overloading of the transformer if you leave it plugged in for a few seconds. If you have AC voltmeter, measure about 12 volts on each pair of son, then a measure wire on a pair to a thread on the other pair - good to connect with the reading will be very low voltage (and not 12 V) between them.

The Path

For almost forty years, Chet Raymo has walked a one-mile path from his house to the college where he taught, chronicling the universe he has found through observing every detail of his route with a scientist's curiosity, a historian's respect for the past, and a child's capacity for wonder. With each step, the landscape he traversed became richer, suggesting deeper and deeper aspects of astronomy, history, biology, and literature, and making the path universal in scope. His insights inspire us to turn out local paths-- whether through cities, suburbs, or rural areas-- into portals to greater understanding of our interconnectedness with nature and history.
The Path
$3.48
For nearly forty years, Chet Raymo has walked a one-mile path from his house in North Easton, Massachusetts, to the Stonehill College campus where he has taught physics and astronomy. The woods, meadows, and stream he passes are as familiar to him as his own backyard, yet each day he finds something new. "Every pebble and wildflower has a story to tell," Raymo says. In The Path, Raymo chronicles the universe he has found by closely observing every detail of his route. He connects the local to the global, the microscopic to the galactic, with a scientists's curiosity, a historian's respect for the past, a child's capacity for wonder. With each step, the landscape he traverses becomes richer and more multidimensional, opening door after door into astromnomy, geology, biology, history, and literaure. "The flake of granite in the path was once at the core of towering mountains pushed up across New England when continents collided," he writes. "The purple loosestrife beside the stream emigrated from Europe in the 1800s as a garden ornamental, then went wantonly native in a land of wild frontiers. The light from the star Arcturus I see reflected in the brook beneath the bridge at night has been traveling across space for forty years before entering my eye. I have attended to all of these stories and tried to hear what the landscape has to say .... I have attended, too, to language. How did the wood anemone and Sheep Pasture get their names? What does the queset of Queset Brook signify in the language of Native Americans? Scratch a name in a landscape, and history bubbles up like a spring." The path also reveals the stories of nineteenth-century industrialists who transformed natural resources into power, and turn-of-the-century landscape architects, such as Frederick Law Olmsted, who championed an ideal of nature tamed by conscious intent. In its transformations over the centuries, Raymo writes, the path "encapsulates in many surprising ways the history of our nation and of our fickle love affair with the natural world." Recognizing that his path is commonplace, and that we all have such routes in our lives, Raymo urges us to walk attentively, stopping often to watch and listen with care. His wisdom and insights inspire us to turn local paths-- whether through cities, suburbs, or rural areas-- into doorways to greater understanding of nature and history.
