If the ‘memo’ or ‘pay to the order of’ part is filled out with your name (or any other name) the answer is yes, however, here is the good part. If someone took the check and changed the amount of money, with your name assigned to the check and they go to cash it in that person has to provide a valid I.D. Since their name more than likely wont match yours, the check will be shredded immediately.
If the ‘memo’ or ‘pay to the order of’ part of the check is not filled out then the person holding the account is pretty much screwed. Sure they will know who cashed it (because the ‘pay to the order of’ part has to have the name of the person collecting the monies on it) because banks send copies of every check they get in a night to the account holders bank but by then it will be to late.

If i were you, to not ruin your credibility with the company or your friend, I would call the person who cut the check and tell them to cancel that transaction number.
