To make carrot juice, you need a heavy-duty juicer powerful enough to separate the carrot pulp from the carrot juice. One pound of carrots makes an 8-oz. glass of juice.
Instructions
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Steps
1Step OneWash fresh, whole carrots. Trim off the ends.
2Step TwoFollowing instructions for your model, push carrots through juicer, catching juice in cup as directed.
3Step ThreeClean pulp from strainer as you go along, if necessary.
4Step FourDrink juice immediately or within a few days. Carrot juice does not keep for long and tastes best when fresh.
Tips & Warnings
It is not necessary to peel the carrots, but if they are not organic, you may wish to.
Try running an inch or so of ginger root through the juicer with the carrots for a zesty variation.
How to Make Lemon Juice
It is quite easy to make lemonade.
StepsSqueeze the two lemons or add 2 teaspoons of lime syrup in a glass of cold water.
Add 2 teaspoons of sugar (more if you like it sweeter).
Stir well with spoon or with another glass.
Add two ice cubes.
Add garnishes if desired
You can put sugar along the rim of the glass with a slice of lemon to have a more “tropical” look to it.
You can add a cherry or two for more fruitful taste
To get a more sweet/salty taste, add a pinch of salt at the very end
Enjoy!
How to Make Orange Juice
You know that there is orange juice in just about every store, but prices can be pretty crazy. So why not make your own?
StepsTightly squeeze the oranges repeatedly to soften them. Wash thoroughly, and cut into halves and take seeds out.
Slightly separate the orange from the peel using your paring knife. Cut circularly around the orange.
Grip the orange half tightly and squeeze directly into the glass or pitcher. Continue squeezing until all the juice is out.
Scrape the orange with a spoon and add fruit directly to juice for additional pulp. Put juice through strainer for less pulp.
Tips
Watch your portions. Find out how many oranges it took to make a cup of juice. Would you really eat that many oranges?
If you would like to use a juicer, follow steps one and two, and follow directions on juicer.
You don’t have to use just oranges, try other fruits too!
Refrigerate immediately.
Storing oranges at room temperature will soften oranges and make them more manageable.
To make the ginger juice,
begin by peeling and grating several slices of ginger. Squeeze out the ginger juice from the grated pieces into a small bowl. If you find this a bit awkward, you can wrap the gratings in cheesecloth before squeezing and squeeze the juice through the cheesecloth. Either way, as long as the ginger is fresh, there should be no problem squeezing out enough juice. (Ginger should be stored, unpeeled, in the vegetable crisper section of the refrigerator – it will last for up to one week if stored in a paper bag, and for 3 – 4 weeks if stored in a plastic bag).
Of course, if you only use ginger on rare occasions, you may not have any fresh on hand.

Late September and early October is Concord Grape season in California’s central valley. The grapes growing on our arbor are ready for picking and make a delicous juice that you couldn’t possibly find in a store. The steps involved for making grape juice are similar to those for making jelly. But the juice is so good, we drink it up quickly and never get around to making jelly.
Equipment needed
A colander for rinsing the grapes
1 large, 12-quart pot
1 large 6 or 8-quart pot
Cheesecloth or a very large fine mesh sieve
1 Pick the grapes. Get a large basket, wear long sleaves and a hat, bring clippers, and fill up the basket with grape bunches.
2 Wash the grapes. Rinse thoroughly through a colander first. Then rinse the individual grapes, picking them away from the stem, collecting the grapes in a large stock pot, and discarding the green unripe and old shriveled grapes.
3 Mash the grapes. With a potato masher, mash away at the grapes so the juice begins to flow.
4 Cook the grapes. Bring the grapes and juice to a boil and then simmer for 10 minutes. Halfway through cooking mash some more, breaking up as many of the remaining grapes as possible.
5 Prepare cheesecloth. Get another large pot, cover with two layers of cheesecloth, secure with a rubber band. Make sure pot is sitting on a plate to catch any juice that may run over. Alternatively, you can use a large, fine mesh sieve, placed over the pot.
6 Strain grape mixture. Ladle grape mixture over cheesecloth to strain. Let sit overnight to strain completely.
7 Finishing. Scoop off grape gunk from cheesecloth. Remove cheesecloth and pour or ladle juice into containers. Enjoy your juice!
Tips
It is always good to taste a bit to make sure it is as sweet as you would like it. You could always add more sugar but cannot remove what is already added.

First, buy a good quality tree. You get what you pay for.
We usually buy Frasier firs & they tend to last a really long time. We put up our tree usually first week in December & stays till a week after New Years.
I put a tablespoon of sugar in the warm water. I also use a turkey baster to syphon out the old water, changing it frequently, 2-3x a week.
