Rooted Plant

My plant cutting rooted. How do I care for it now?
I was bought some cut roses with some other cut plants for greenery. I put it in some water with plant food and I recently noticed the greenery rooted and the rest of the flowers are dead. How do I care for a plant that rooted? I’ve never had it happen before.
Get some light potting soil, and some rooting stimulant at a local plant store. Put the newly rooted greens in the soil (be sure the soil is wet first – it’s much easier to transplant) and make sure it’s supported. Keep it moist, but not wet (avoid mold/mildews that way), and lightly fertilize it every week or so. Keep it out of direct sunlight for a while, but be sure it gets a lot of good indirect light. Good luck!

Rooted
$11.48 David Pichaske has been writing and teaching about midwestern literature for three decades. In Rooted, by paying close attention to text, landscape, and biography, he examines the relationship between place and art. His focus is on seven midwestern authors who came of age toward the close of the twentieth century, their lives and their work grounded in distinct places: Dave Etter in small-town upstate Illinois; Norbert Blei in Door County, Wisconsin; William Kloefkorn in southern Kansas and Nebraska; Bill Holm in Minneota, Minnesota; Linda Hasselstrom in Hermosa, South Dakota; Jim Heynen in Sioux County, Iowa; and Jim Harrison in upper Michigan. The writers' intimate knowledge of place is reflected in their use of details of geography, language, environment, and behavior. Yet each writer reaches toward other geographies and into other dimensions of art or thought: jazz music and formalism in the case of Etter; gender issues in the case of Hasselstrom; time past and present in the case of Kloefkorn; ethnicity and the role of the artist in the case of Blei; magical realism in the case of Heynen; the landscape of literature in the case of Holm; and the curious worlds of academia, best-selling novels, and Hollywood films in the case of Harrison. The result, Pichaske notes, is the growing away from roots, the explorations and alter egos of these writers of place, and the tension between the “here” and “there” that gives each writer's art the complexity it needs to transcend provincial boundaries. Quoting generously from the writers, Pichaske employs a practical, jargon-free literary analysis fixed in the text, making Rooted interesting, readable, and especially useful in treating the categories of memoir and literary essay that have become important in recent decades. |

Rooted in Christ
$21.48 When it comes to growing in faith, it?s all about Christ. St. Paul puts it this way: ?Continue to live in Christ Jesus, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving? (Colossians 2:7). In Rooted in Christ: 12 Faith Formation Sessions for Adults, Jeanne Wiest too equates growing in faith with being rooted in Christ. Each of the twelve sessions in this book is grounded in the firm belief that all Catholic adults are called to discipleship; to follow Christ in all of life?s big and little challenges. Topics covered include: I Believe in God; Jesus of History, Christ of Faith; Origins of the Gospels; The Church as Servant; The Seven Sacraments; and Christian Morality Basics. Each two-hour session includes detailed guidelines for the facilitator, a ?Leader?s Presentation Guide,? a prayer service, and multiple handouts for participants. This is an invaluable resource for lifelong learning and recommended in particular for catechist formation, RCIA teams and catechumens, intergenerational assemblies, and all adult faith formation gatherings. |

Rooted in Spirit
$15.18 Rooted in Spirit explains the influence of the emotions on health according to ancient Chinese thought, examining the interrelationship of emotion and spirit and showing how our health and well-being depend upon the harmonious dwelling of the "spirits" (shen) in the heart. At the deepest level the practice of Chinese medicine involves the proper communication between practitioner and shen. Rooted in Spirit is a translation of Chapter Eight of the Lingshu portion of the Huangdi Neijing or The Yellow Emperor`s Classic of Internal Medicine, the Chinese text on which all the Chinese healing arts are founded. Despite the great importance of this text in providing the spiritual and metaphysical context of Oriental medicine, it has been excluded from translations of the medical classics which reflect a materialistic bias. Chapter Eight is presented here together with a commentary by contemporary French sinologists, Elisabeth Rochat de la Vallee and Claude Larre, S.J. |
