landscaping cover
I need to know how to calculate how much mulch I need for a landscaping project.?
Okay I have an area of 1700 sq ft, I need mulch to cover at least an inch in depth throughout this area. They sell bags of mulch at a local home depot and each bag covers an area of 2 cubic feet, how many bags of mulch do I need to complete my project. Please let me know how to calculate this on my own, also if if anyone knows how many yards is 1700 sq feet, I would forever be grateful (:

Here is the scoop:
2cuft Bags at 1″ covers 24sq ft
2cuft Bags at 2″ covers 12sqft
so you will need about 71 bags at 1″
Square feet to square yards – divide by 9
1700/9 = 188.89
For bulk mulch at 1″ deep, you will need abou 5.25 Cubic Yards
